For one week, Kaléido’scop had a partnership with the University Jean-Monnet and MIFE Loire sud, so Spanish, Italian and Greek actors, who do projects related to social and solidarity economy (ESS) within the European project “KISS” (“Key is social sustainability”), were invited. The main objective of this project was to explore the conditions of permanence of ESS projects in Italy, Spain, Greece and France. Sylvain Abrial, working as a training officer in Kaléido’skop, explains: “In January, we’ve been in Barcelona. We will continue with another partnership in Greece in March and in Italy in April. Furthermore, we will have another event in in Saint-Étienne in July. According to the subject, Saint-Étienne will be used as a model on national level. In France, we had the chance to have a steady ESS through politicians, then in Greece, the ESS was founded within the crisis and a direct reaction is requested. This week, we focus on the connections between ESS and politics and explore the strings of independence or dependence with public policies.” Regarding the project, there are multiple visits in the region of Saint-Étienne but also in Pilat to understand the ESS in rural environments.
